Lighting of the
Chalice
We light this chalice for the
warmth of love, the light of truth, and the energy of service.
Song* Sarah’s Circle
Joys and
concerns
Reading (Responsive)
Friend, I have lost the way.
The way leads on.
Is there another way?
The way is one.
I must retrace the track.
It’s lost and gone.
Back, I must travel back!
None goes there, none.
Then I’ll make here a place—
The road runs on—
Stand still and set my face –
The road leaps on.
Stay here, forever stay.
None stays here, none.
I cannot find the way.
The way leads on.
Oh, places I have passed!
That journey’s done.
And what will come at last?
The way leads on.
(Children go to RE at the end of
the story)
Discussion topic:
Sharing our
religious histories: please prepare some sort of pictorial representation of your
life until now: a collage, a time line,
a map, or whatever appeals to you. Focus
especially upon your religious background, any additional factors that
influenced your approach to religion, and major life transitions or crises
*Closing circle of hands: (extinguish the chalice)
We extinguish
this chalice but not the warmth of love, the light of truth, or the energy of
service; these we take with us.
Song* Go now in Peace
Go now in Peace
May the love of God surround
you
Everywhere, everywhere
You may go.

Sisters,
brothers all.
We will all do our own naming
(3 times)
Sisters,
brothers all.
Every round a generation (3

Sisters,
brothers all.
On and on the circle’s moving

Sisters, brothers

Tis a Gift
to Be Simple
1)‘Tis
a gift to be simple,
‘tis a gift to be free,
‘tis a gift to come down where you ought to be,
And when we find
ourselves in the place just right,
It will be in the
valley of love and delight.
2) Tis a gift to be loved and that love to return
‘Tis the gift to be taught an a richer gift to learn
And when we
expect of others what we try to live each day,
Then we’ll all
live together and we’ll all learn to say.
3)
‘Tis the gift to have friends and a true friend to be,
“Tis the gift to think of others not to
only think of “me,”
And when we hear
what others really think and really feel,
Then we’ll all
live together with a love that is real
Refrain:
When true
simplicity is gained,
To bow and to
bend we shan’t be ashamed.
To turn, turn
will be our delight,
‘Til by turning, turning we come round right.
